Is Shamu A Sham? | PostDate: 10/29/2008
Peter always thought there was just one very famous Orca whale named Shamu. On a recent visit to Sea World, he learned otherwise. Shamu is a stage name that’s been given to over 50 of these performing killer whales since 1966. Nonetheless, Peter thoroughly enjoyed the multi-media Shamu extravaganza, so much so that it inspired “Balancing Act”, a box figurine featuring a juggling Orca.

A Blue Box Worthy of Its Name | PostDate: 10/29/2008
We can say without a doubt that “Trouser Snake” belongs in the bawdy Blue Box collection! Peter’s signed and numbered limited edition portrays at least 50% of the population’s favourite snake. The species can be found in all regions of the world, but those in colder areas tend to be much smaller. The interior shows the snake’s greatest nemesis – alcohol. A sign reads “Beware the one eyed trouser snake”, as the venom can leave some women with a terrible morning sickness.

HK’s Most Recent Design Star | PostDate: 10/29/2008
Peter’s Tapir box figurine, “Earn Your Stripes”, fits neatly into the category of odd and eccentric animals that he loves so much. With the body of a pig and a nose like a small elephant, these large mammals are born with wonderful designs - white stripes and spots that gradually disappear over time.

What Is The Difference Between A Chicken And A Hen? | PostDate: 10/29/2008
Chicken is the generic species name. Hen refers specifically to female chickens over one year old (younger females are pullets). Now that that’s been clarified, we can move on to Peter’s new box figurine. You’ll find nothing generic about “Millie’s Maidens”. Not only does it feature two busy and beautiful hens, but it is carved with great care from Peter’s personal observations of his backyard birds.

Humpback Heaven | PostDate: 10/29/2008
Each autumn, the endangered Humpback whale swims out of Alaska, travelling nearly 3500 miles, and arrives in Maui by wintertime. There, in the sheltered ‘Au’au Channel, they mate and give birth in the warm waters. Each winter, over 2,000,000 not-so-endangered tourists travel thousands of miles, and arrive at the same place. Obviously, Maui is a heavenly destination for Humpback and Human alike.

“Polar Melt” Bucks Fashion By Removing His Piercing | PostDate: 4/4/2008
Body piercing has been around since ancient times. In fact, the oldest mummified body ever found – that of Ötzi the Iceman – had a piercing! Piercing is even referenced in the Old Testament. In the West, nipple piercing dates back to the 14th century, when a queen - Isabeau of Bavaria – proudly displayed her piercings. Centuries later, in Victorian England, it became all the rage, and 100 years later, rock stars like Tommy Lee and Lenny Kravitz popularized piercing for the modern age.

Climate Change Redemption | PostDate: 2/6/2008
The 2008/09 Royal Watch Redemption piece portrays three polar bears sweltering under a hot sun. The ice floe they are sat on has almost melted – global warming undoubtedly at work. One bear is puzzled about the heat, another is trying to keep cool with a fan, and the third has gone to the extremes of unzipping his skin, revealing a pierced nipple.

2008/09 Royal Watch Club Membership | PostDate: 2/6/2008
Harmony Kingdom’s collector society, The Royal Watch, has been in existence for an amazing thirteen years! Reason for celebration – yes! Yet for the superstitious amongst us, thirteen is an unlucky number. These mixed emotions make our 2008/09 club theme of global warming especially apropos. Our planet is perilously unlucky, unless we honor her and take action!

Aloha! | PostDate: 11/18/2008
Paula and Cindy – the lovely ladies of Lahaina Scrimshaw – have been HK advocates for years. Their two shops in Maui have introduced many a traveler to the wonders of Harmony Kingdom. Unfortunately, Hawaii is such a long distance from England, so Peter has not had the opportunity to visit them. However, we felt it was finally time to say “mahalo” (thank you) for their years of support. And the best way to offer our gratitude was to create a special piece for them.
